Zirconium rod

Zirconium rod is a cylindrical rod made of metal zirconium (Zr) or zirconium alloy (usually 3mm~200mm in diameter), which has excellent corrosion resistance, high melting point, and low heat neutron absorption cross-section.

Main application areas

(1) Nuclear industry (core use)

Nuclear fuel assembly: Zirconium alloy rods (Zr-4) are used to manufacture fuel rod cladding tubes to prevent nuclear fuel leakage.

Control rod: Utilizing the low neutron absorption properties of zirconium to regulate the nuclear reaction rate.

Reactor structural components: such as pressure pipes, guide pipes, etc.

(2) Chemical equipment

Acid resistant reactor stirring shaft: resistant to hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, etc. (except hydrofluoric acid).

Electrolytic cell electrode rod: used in chlor alkali industry or hydrometallurgy.

(3) Medical devices

Orthopedic implants: such as bone nails, joint repair materials (requiring biocompatibility treatment).

Dental implants: High purity zirconium rods are used for root restoration after surface treatment.

(4) Research and Industry

High temperature experimental furnace components: such as thermocouple protection tubes and heating element support rods.

Vacuum equipment: structural components used in high-purity environments.
