Tungsten crucible

A tungsten crucible is a high-temperature container made of metal tungsten (W) or tungsten alloy, with its ultra-high melting point (3422 ° C) and excellent corrosion resistance
Product details

Core characteristics of tungsten crucible

✅ Ultra high melting point: 3422 ° C, it is currently the material with the highest melting point among metals.

✅ High temperature strength: maintains structural stability above 2000 ° C and is not easily deformed.

✅ Corrosion resistance: resistant to molten metals (such as copper, aluminum, gold, silver) and partial molten salt erosion.

✅ Low vapor pressure: Almost non-volatile in a vacuum environment, suitable for the preparation of high-purity materials.

✅ High thermal conductivity: uniform temperature distribution, suitable for precision processes such as crystal growth.

Main application areas

(1) High temperature material melting

Rare earth metal purification: such as yttrium, gadolinium, dysprosium, etc. (melting temperature>1500 ° C).

Smelting of precious metals: melting and casting of high-temperature alloys such as gold, silver, and platinum.

Semiconductor materials: Single crystal growth of compound semiconductors such as GaAs and InP.

(2) Vacuum coating and evaporation source

Electron beam evaporation (EBE): used for coating high melting point materials such as oxides and carbides.

Thermal evaporation coating: used as a carrier for aluminum, copper and other evaporation materials in crucibles.

(3) Sapphire crystal growth

Kyropoulos method: containing alumina melt (temperature>2050 ° C).

Guided mode method (EFG): producing large-sized sapphire substrates.

(4) Research and Special Industries

Nuclear industry: experimental melting of nuclear fuels such as uranium and thorium.

High temperature chemical synthesis: preparation of tungsten carbide (WC) and tungsten nitride (WN).

Manufacturing process

Powder metallurgy: tungsten powder isostatic pressing+high-temperature sintering (2200~2800 ° C).

Mechanical processing: CNC lathe/milling machine precision machining of inner cavities and threads.

Welding: Electron beam welding (EBW) is used to join large crucibles to ensure airtightness.

Coating treatment: Iridium (Ir) or tantalum carbide (TaC) plating to enhance oxidation resistance.
